Malnutrition is caused by a myriad of determinants interacting at different levels beyond the household. Stunting among under-fives and anemia in women of reproductive age is persistently a public health challenge for Uganda. This remains a national priority for which Uganda is continuously scaling up national efforts and interventions at each level to effect change for a healthy population.

In 2018, the Government of Uganda started the Uganda Multi-sectoral Food security and Nutrition Project to improve production and consumption of micro-nutrient rich foods and utilization of community based nutrition services in small holder households.
